Practice Description

Mr. Straussman is Senior Counsel to the Firm, primarily focused on patent prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Intellectual Property portfolio creation & management, and patent litigation in the U.S courts.

Mr. Straussman's has nearly two decades of experience almost exclusively relating to intellectual property.  Mr. Straussman's practice centers around patent prosecution, IP-related due diligence on both the buy and sell sides, patent litigation, and opinion matters primarily in the fields of computer hardware and software, consumer technology, and medical devices.  He has significant experience specifically rendering written opinions on such issues of validity, enforceability and infringement of U.S. patents.  He also has significant experience advising and assisting clients in enhancing company value through developing and managing complete intellectual property portfolios covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and know how for the U.S. and abroad.  He has also handled diverse matters in the courts including patent infringement litigations and appeals; several copyright infringement matters related to films of live sporting events; preparation and submission of a brief to the U.S. Supreme Court; and arguing a criminal appeal before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York for the First Judicial Department as a special assistant district attorney on behalf of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

Prior to joining Weitzman IP, Mr. Straussman was a partner with Morgan & Finnegan LLP and then with Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP.

Prior to his legal career Mr. Straussman held the position of senior engineer for a prominent electronics corporation where he did hardware, software and firmware design.
